Character History
Backstory - Summary
The last of her original ‘Hingan’ family lineage, and now the first of a new Vrek one, Nitall was originally intended to serve as the prodigial successor to her family before fate sent her onto a new path entirely. Whilst this had left her no shortage of struggles to contend with, it hadn't dulled her conviction to thrive and to rebuild her lost family, even if it required controlling fate itself via dubious motivations and dark magicks alike. And, control people's fates, she would. From her simple beginnings as a yakuza and assassin within the confines of Shishu island, to the Archmage of dark magicks in all of their forms, this pleasant-seeming woman with an easy-going smile and ready-consideration for those around herself is an invisible kind of evil for those that don't know her. And, for those that do, they would swear her as salvation in all of its forms, even when acknowleding this daemon in silks for who she really is beneath it all.
Backstory - Hingashi / Shishu
As the eldest born to a family whose lineage traces back to before there was ever a ‘Hingan' identity, Nitall ('Pride' in their old tongue) had high expectations set for her as the natural heir apparent to this seemingly-humble merchant family in Edo society, not least due to the weight of the legacy that she'd be expected to inherit once she came of age. Such would include the family's mainstay as highly prolific Assassins during the Age of Blood, the need to survive as a marginalised group under the Shogunate, and more recently, a newfound development as a ruthless Yakuza clan based out of the port city of Kugane, all under this lasting Vrek identity.Whilst this duty was not hers alone to have to succeed at, Nitall showed great promise as the 'Pride' of the family from even an early age, as her natural aptitude with learning the family's combat arts paired with a studious diligence when it came to understanding everything about the world around herself. Even her talent with utilising Aether had been observed in this time, the amalgamation of which earned her recognition as the family's prodigy-child that was due to inherit everything without issue. Such would be her praise that none in the family would bat an eye even when they had heard of how a 'Reaper of Death' had settled into Kugane itself, even if they had sought to try and temper what was clearly more than just a natural aptitude.Such would also seemingly be what fate responded to when the family's estate was burned to the ground, as whilst it's unclear what had ultimately motivated it, the apparent result of Nitall's presence would be a conspiracy to wipe out the family's longlasting legacy once-and-for-all. And, before she knew it, everything that Nitall had been working towards would become lost, and being powerless to prevent any of it, she'd ultimately be forced to flee Hingashi entirely and head out into an unknown world beyond its shores. Grief is an understated term for what she felt during this journey into exile, not least due to her own belief that she had brought ruin to her family, with the consequences of this redefining who Nitall would be due to become. No doubt if fate had sought to prevent a villain from forming, it had instead only solidified one.
Backstory - Eorzea / Thanalan
By the time that Nitall had made landfall in Eorzea, Dalamud had already fallen, and for it, the Garlean Empire's invasion of Eorzea wouldn't be a presence that she'd become familiar with. Instead, her introduction into these strange new lands would be through the perspective of its survivors that sought to accustome themselves to this new Astral Era. And, whilst Nitall had no knowledge of these foreign peoples and their cultures, she'd likewise be forced to accustome herself to this new way-of-life, albeit she'd do so ruthlessly as she sought to prioritise her own survival over the wellbeing of any 'others' that happened to be within her immediate proximity. This ruthlessness came in various forms for the common person, but it should suffice to state that no one - Be they an innocent civilian or a guilty criminal - got off lightly from meeting her during this time. At best, this would take the form of becoming a target of the Brass Blades in her stead, but more often than not, it'd instead take the form of becoming another corpse in her wake, with Nitall herself never staying in one location for long lest she'd risk being caught up in the consequences of her own brutality. That was, until she'd move into the city of Ul'dah itself, by which time her priorities had shifted from simple survival to instead thrive within the criminal underbelly that she'd discover. The brutality hadn't changed - Only its victims did. When Nitall had left Hingashi, she did so with much of her studies and training alike being left unfinished. But, by the time she had scoured her way through Thanalan, she ultimately hadn't needed them to find her own way in the world. Despite that, she had deemed herself as still lacking in knowledge that could better serve her own uses, and now that she had established herself within Ul'dah, it would prove to be an invaluable time to follow-up these odd mentions of ancient and powerful artifacts that had been left behind from the nebulous Age of Magicks period, especially once she had uncovered a Mhachi Soul Stone that - Whilst it'd take a while to properly attune to with her own Aether - would exponentially increase her rate-of-progress.But, despite all of this success in her newfound life that she had established for herself, none of it served to meaningfully confront her own internal struggles that had persisted ever since her family's demise. If anything, it had given her distractions to keep her focused away from doing as such, something that only held up until she'd end up taking in fellow exiles from the Far East under her 'care'. At that point, there was no more avoiding her self-imposed harsh reality; She would have to restart her family's legacy, and in doing so, would ensure to never let fate dictate its course on her behalf. If that meant controlling the fates of all those under her 'care' by way of coercion or manipulation, she'd play her role as a daemon to perfection.
Thus began the reborn legacy of the Reaper of Kugane; No longer a lost, wayward Pride of a fallen family, but rather a self-realised presence herein amongst the world. And, whilst her story goes on into depth to explore the multi-faceted, complex life that comes with being so many things at once, one thing would never change; She is Nitall Vrek, the last of her legacy to have preceded her by two-thousand years, and the first of a new legacy set to last two-thousand more.Or rather, such is the intention with her continuing story. As such, treat all of this as an ongoing Work In Progress for the future to come!

Lowkey Roleplay Hooks
A Simple Innkeeper - If asked, Nitall will always express herself as being a simple Innkeeper to her humble establishment located within the outskirts of Ul'dah's residential districts. Should one have half-a-mind to investigate, one may even find nothing amiss with this claim, at least if one were not paying careful attention to the suspicious lack of foot traffic on its premises, to say nothing of any deeper investigations that'll conjure up all kinds of oddities.Shishu-ian Native - For those more familiar with the broader culture of Hingashi, perhaps Nitall Vrek's name would stand out as being a linguistic oddity. After all, surely only Hingans have ever lived in Hingashi, so why would such a strange name as 'Nitall Vrek' ever have reason to exist to begin with? No doubt the answer will prove to be quite a rabbit hole for those that have a keen interest in Hingashi's history and present alike.Primal Bookwyrm - As an avid collector of magickal grimoires and arcane texts alike, Nitall can often be found perusing any library that she's able to access for tomes that catch her interest. These will usually be tomes on advanced magicks and grimoires of a darker nature than what most might be comfortable with, and as such, the means of acquiring such works may not always be legally-adherent. Perhaps you're an idle observer to these perusals? Or a supplier of her next source of forbidden knowledge?A Need For Ships - Listen, we've all been there - You see two people just simply talking to one another normally, looking all adorable-like as they (gasp) talk to each other normally, and you think to yourself 'I'd ship them together!' as if that particular headcanon deserves to be written down as the inspiration for the next romance novel! W-wait, you don't do that? I guess it's just Nitall, then! If you happen to catch her scribbling down ideas in a booklet, you'll know.A Charming Benefactor - With an endless pool of apparent generosity being readily offered for those that she deems worth her attention, one might yet begin to wonder why Nitall seems so intent on coddling her target newfound friend with good-will aplenty, especially should they happen to be in need or otherwise outright destitute prior to meeting her. After all, it's not like daemons come to the desperate expressing goodwill with honey-coated words. Surely not~!
Plotsy Roleplay Hooks
Yakuza Matriarch - Despite presenting herself in a friendly and relaxed manner, the fact remains that Nitall is the Matriarch of a Yakuza Clan that boasts a small-scale presence in both the Far East and in Eorzea, one that favours discretion and concealment to compliment its ruthless and damning influences upon all those that can be called its 'victims'. There's no public outcry over this unnamed presence, nor recognition for the damage that they leave in their wake; There's only a sickening feeling of what those lurking in the shadows will do next. Perhaps yours can see past the facade for what it is?Traditional Values - Suffice to say, Nitall is a staunch traditionalist that regards the Hingan way-of-life to be objectively correct, whilst viewing those of other cultures-- In spite of any stated perks-- to be fundamentally incorrect. Of course, were one to go digging, no doubt one can find some core hypocrisies underpinning how and why Nitall takes this disposition, but that'll be a thinly-veiled comfort for those that belong to the rebellious movements seeking to undermine this 'objectively correct' Hingan way-of-life. How far will yours wish to confront Nitall on this matter? That's up to you to decide! The Reaper of Kugane - Many summers a go in a far off-land, vague whispers of a 'Reaper of Death' began to emerge, at first contained within Kugane as a folktale for the sudden amount of deceased bodies that were being discovered, but having since found its way into Ul'dah as a growing tale of a real and genuine presence to be wary of. Who is this 'Reaper of Kugane'? And, why had she found her way to Ul'dah before returning to her homeland in recent times? Perhaps whatever investigation occurs to find this answer will happen upon more than what one may have initially been expecting!Yo-kai It or Not - Whilst Nitall might sometimes pose herself as a 'Yo-kai Hunter' that's generously offering to deal with any given Voidsent problem, the truth is that she's not looking to exterminate these Voidal influences, but rather to safely relocate them back into her own domain as newfound Familiars in her service. Perhaps that'll already be apparent to the more perceptive with how her existing Familiars behave in strange ways, or how Nitall herself has an unmistakable presence of the Void upon herself despite not being a Voidsent or having an Avatar. Of course, one might be left to wonder why that is.The Looming Presence - Whilst Nitall is officially registered as a Thaumaturge with the Ossuary, and by extension as a low-level Adventurer with the guild, the truth of her situation is far more perverse than whatever she's willing to submit for scrutiny. After all, she only uses these registrations for the sake of being able to access things that she wouldn't otherwise be able to, such as Levequests that call to investigate ruins of interest for her own purposes, and only when she's forced to do so will she finally reveal what she can do. Perhaps that could come around due to silly mishaps or plot-related intrigue?
And More! - I'm an old-timey Roleplayer who believes in the notion that the setting our characters exist in is a world that they should actually be able to 'live' in. As such, any random shenanigans that can occur will no doubt inevitably occur, regardless of how significant it may actually be for any of the characters involved. So, if you have any suggestions for hooks that you'd like to throw at Nitall, I'm more than happy to oblige!
Out-of-Character
Hey there! Thanks for checking out my Carrd! My Gamer Tag / Discord is Perpetis, I'm EST in the sheets but British on the streets, and this character can be found in Crystal - Mateus.I'm a 30+ RPer with 20+ years of experience, over half of which has been spent GMing for a few different guilds (Some of which I've personally ran). I've been RPing in FFXIV since the end of Shadowbringers, with Nitall Vrek serving as my main character for this entire duration. I'm a lore bendy RPer who primarily portrays antagonistic / villaneous characters with depth. And, in case it begs stating, I'm fully accepting of whoever you may be OOCly, quirks and all!
However, what I won't accept is subpar Roleplay standards; I'm an old-school Roleplayer who still believes in things like actually telling a story and abiding by certain expectations with how one should conduct themselves, to say nothing of taking friendships seriously as bonds to be given their due effort. If yours is a flakey, sex-fiendish, self-insert socialite type, kindly do not inquire. Otherwise, the following are general highlights as to what I'm looking for:
Long-Term Roleplay with an emphasis on overarching stories / plots.
Emphasis on Dark / Mature (Not Smut!) themes, but not exclusively so.
Single-Paragraph / Multi-Paragraph posts with reasonable depth / speed.
In-Game Roleplay only. Discord's fine for keeping track of details, though!
I'd list more, but it should be reasonably apparent if we're going to get along or not from any ensuing OOC chatter / probative Roleplaying that occurs, so just treat that list as the guideline that it is and we'll see if things stick. Either way, thanks for checking out my Carrd!
